Portrait sculptures became popular in later Parthian art. Moving away from idealized Hellenistic models, these emphasized the personal trappings of the individual, costume being used to denote rank and social background. Parthian court dress consisted of simple but decorative clothing, including loose-fitting garments and boots with upturned toes.
